Paralympic Hero Visit

On the 10th of September we we honoured with a visit from Airdrie born Angela McDowell, a multi medal winner at the 1988 South Korean Paralympic Games. She talked to us about how she developed her swimming skills despite her sight problems and how she went on to win over 200 medals in National, European and International championships as well as her 8 Olympic medals. She let some of the children wear her medals too. She was an inspiration to all of us. Thank you Angela for sharing your story with us.

Assembly Sell-out

Our end of year assemblies will take place on Tuesday the 26th of June at 11am and Wednesday the 27th of June at 2pm. Both assemblies have been sold out and we are afraid there will be no facility to pay at the door, this is due to health and safety regulations. We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate the end of a wonderful year.

Eco Flag Success

On Friday the 27th of April Kirkshaws Primary School and Nursery Class were successful in gaining their 3rd Green Eco Flag. This is the result of a lot of hard work including litter initiatives, planting and recycling. Many thanks have to go to Mrs McBain and the Eco Team who worked tirelessly to plan and coordinate all of the school’s progress. We received our new Eco flag last week and showed it to everyone at assembly.

Well done everyone – we deserve to feel proud!

Cross Country Success

Cross Country running is obviously something Kirkshaws Primary is good at. We had 3 qualifying teams and an individual runner who qualified out of all 122 North Lanarkshire Primary Schools – this is an amazing achievement. Well done to all of our runners, especially the Primary 7 girls team who came out second over all. Each participating runner was awarded with a medal at assembly.

JRSO Competition Winners

Our JRSO's with the winning pupils

Today at assembly the winners of the latest JRSO (Junior Road Safety Officer) competition were announced. The competition was for the Primary 1 to Primary 5 pupils. The aim was to design a flag for their own made up country. Our JRSO’S said, “It was quite hard to decide the winners because all of the entries were really good. Well done to everyone who took part.” Each winner got a special certificate and a small prize.
