A ‘Spooktastic’ afternoon in Kirkshaws
Kirkshaws Primary and Nursery class has been taken over by a vast array of well dressed characters ranging from scary witches and pirates (and that is just the teachers!) to pretty princess and daring superheroes. Each class hosted its own party with games, food and some of the best dancing seen in Coatbridge in years. Have a look at some of the wonderful costumes in a selection of class photographs below. WARNING – SOME OF THESE PHOTOGRAPHS CONTAIN SCARY CREATURES!
Halloween Fun at Kirkshaws
On Monday afternoon Kirkshaws Primary is looking forward to lots of Halloween fun. Class parties and fun activities will take place after lunchtime – so make sure you have your costume ready. If your child is going home to get ready, they will be available to be picked up from 12 o’clock. Please note that pupils will not be allowed to leave school at this time unless they are collected by an adult.
Let the apple dooking commence!

JRSO Competition Winners
Today at assembly the winners of the latest JRSO (Junior Road Safety Officer) competition were announced. The competition was for the Primary 1 to Primary 5 pupils. The aim was to design a flag for their own made up country. Our JRSO’S said, “It was quite hard to decide the winners because all of the entries were really good. Well done to everyone who took part.” Each winner got a special certificate and a small prize.
Parent Night Success
Many thanks to everyone who attended parents’ night last night. It was good to see such a high attendance. If you were unable to make your appointment last night, and would still like a meeting, please contact the school in the usual way. We will try and accommodate you at mutually convenient time.
A huge ‘Well Done’ to our amazing Glow Busters. They did a superb job of informing everyone about the benefits of Glow and Kirkshaws new-look website. Look out for our ‘Using Glow at Home’ letter which will be given out to each pupil, with their individual usernames and passwords, as soon as the school has a working photocopier again. We hope this will be soon after we return from the October break.
Please have a look around the website and comment on the blogs – the pupils (and the teachers) would be delighted to get feedback.
Primary One in the Press
The Primary One class photographs are in the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser this week. The special souvenir issues went on sale this morning. Our children look just wonderful.
