Wonderful Willow

Yesterday we were visited by Alan Kain, a wood artist, who helped us to create a wonderful twisting Willow Tunnel in the Nursery garden. He was assisted to construct it by children from Primary 6. They worked most of the day and managed to  get it finished. Mrs Steel filmed some of the process using time-lapse photography.Press here to see our time-lapse movie

We are looking forward to watching it grow over the seasons and the Nursery children can’t wait to play in it. We hope Alan can visit us again in future projects to improve our school grounds.

It was Brilliant to Be Bright!

On Friday Kirkshaws Primary School was transformed into multi-colour by the JRSO team when everybody wore bright and reflective clothing. At assembly our Junior Road Safety Officers highlighted the need to ‘Be Bright and Be Seen’ during the dark mornings and evenings. Certificates and a prize were given to the brightest child in each class as well as the brightest staff members. Well done to everyone who dressed up and brightened everyone’s day.

Be Bright Be Seen

Kirkshaws Junior Road Safety Officers are holding a ‘Be Bright Day’ on Friday the 20th of January. This will be used to heighten the awareness of  wearing bright clothing during the dark evening and mornings so that it is easier to be seen by motorists. Everyone is encouraged to dress as brightly as possible. There will be prizes for the brightest dressed child – and teacher! Check back next week for some photographs of the day.

Christmas Dinner

Our yearly Christmas lunch had been planned for last Thursday the 8th of December, but due  to adverse weather conditions the school was closed and lunch was postponed until Friday. The children enjoyed a choice of steak pie or turkey with all the trimmings as well as a selection of desserts. Mr Clark supplied a chocolate treat and table settings. Many thanks to the parent helpers who  assisted in giving out the dinners. Here are some photographs of the children enjoying their special meal.
