Science and Engineering Award Winners

Kirkshaws were recently shortlisted for the Celebration of Scottish Science and Engineering awards.  Representatives from our Eco Commitee, along with Mrs McBain, created a winning presentation on how our school saves energy. The pupils also took part in a series of science challenges as well as investigating the Glasgow Science Centre where the day was hosted. As well as winning the coveted title at the awards ceremony, the school received a cheque for £250. A photograph of the awards ceremony was also put into the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser. Congratulations to everyone for a wonderful effort. Press HERE to visit the SCDI website for more information and photographs.

Eco Flag Success

On Friday the 27th of April Kirkshaws Primary School and Nursery Class were successful in gaining their 3rd Green Eco Flag. This is the result of a lot of hard work including litter initiatives, planting and recycling. Many thanks have to go to Mrs McBain and the Eco Team who worked tirelessly to plan and coordinate all of the school’s progress. We received our new Eco flag last week and showed it to everyone at assembly.

Well done everyone – we deserve to feel proud!

Cross Country Success

Cross Country running is obviously something Kirkshaws Primary is good at. We had 3 qualifying teams and an individual runner who qualified out of all 122 North Lanarkshire Primary Schools – this is an amazing achievement. Well done to all of our runners, especially the Primary 7 girls team who came out second over all. Each participating runner was awarded with a medal at assembly.
