First ever Blog post. In Tier3 I’m hoping to run Glow out to my S1 class as a homework/help/ discussion page.

Looking forward to you coming out for Tier 3. I like your idea for having a seperate Glow group for English lit texts that many staff use on a regular basis such as “Macbeth” or “To Kill A Mockingbird”. I think this would be of real benefit, both to staff and pupils. How to include audio clips / video clips would also be really useful as part of the CFE listening “E”s and “O”s

In Tier 3 training I envisage needing support in creating the overall structure of glow groups for the ICT department, creating Wiki’s and general help with the layout of pages.
However, on a sc hool level support is needed at a more basic level for staff who have not got started with GLOW.
Steve Clulow – Greenfaulds DofE Awards
I am very interested in utilising the Blog feature of Glow to allow pupils undertaking DofE awards to be able to record / save evidence of their participation in the four major areas of volunteering/skills/physical/expedition and share their experiences with the course supervisors and their peers.
This will prove to be an invaluable tool – as I intend to teach them all advanced ICT skills to set up video diaries / blogs / presentations as the main skills section at Bronze level and then get them to utilise their skills as they advance through the award levels to deliver/create lessons / tutorials on completing the four sections to the younger pupils that participate in the scheme.

In Tier 3 I would like assistance for pupils in setting up a blog/e-portfolio to help them record achievements ,training for staff who have never used GLOW,training for SMT who will be involved in transition arrangements
Ian McMillan – Brannock High
For tier 3 I would like to find out how other Computing/ICT departments are using Glow to give me some ideas on the type of things that glow can be used for, other than giving pupils access to materials. Also maybe things like peer assessment and pupil profiling.
Kirsty Reid – Greenfaulds
I intend to use Glow for the following purposes:
P7/S1 transition. A glow group will be set up to allow P7 pupils to access information on GHS providing them with information on the school and set up blogs for discussions between P7, S1 and S6 pupils and staff.
E-profiling. Accessing pupil information and achievements within and out with school. Commenting on their work.
Alison Davidson – St Margaret’s
In St. Margaret’s we are hoping to work on our transition arrangements by developing a glow group for our associate primaries.
With subjects in mind this would allow some information to be shared with the possibility of some glow meets taking place with all primaries invited to take part.
Helen Grant – St Margaret’s
We hope to use Glow for primary transition. This would, hopefully, improve the transion process for Primary 7 – S1 pupils.
Gordon Scott – Calderhead
For Tier 3 I would like to look at how to create e-portfolios for my Pupil Support caseload. I would want this to be a place where they can collate information about themselves from S1 that will help them when they are applying for jobs / College and University in S5 / S6.
