On Wednesday we had great fun participating in the sponsored obstacle course. We had to crawl, climb and jump over a variety of apparatus. It was exhausting!

This week, we had great fun making up our own stories. We thought about characters and settings. Our stories also had ‘big problems’ and resolutions.
After lots of snowfall, we had great fun with the untouched snow in the nursery garden. We used pencils to draw with. We looked at numbers and tried to write these in the snow. Take a look.
Last week, Mrs Li came along to our nursery to tell us about Chinese New Year. We learned all about the festival and loved trying on some traditional Chinese clothes.
Although this week has been short, it has been jam packed learning about Chinese New Year. We had great fun ribbon dancing to Chinese music, made concertina dragons, as well as having a wonderful Chinese snack, complete with fortune cookies.
This week, we have been thinking about the effects of winter on birds. We had a great time bird spotting in the playground and were able to locate many of the birds on the checklist. We put out birdfeeders to help the birds find food as the ground is too hard to find worms.
Yesterday, we held a workshop on the benefits of reading with children. The workshop also covered the Three Read Approach, which we have been using in the nursery to develop literacy skills. Thank you to all the parents who attended.
As part of our winter topic, we have been learning about warm clothes. Today, we used catalogues to cut out and sort winter and summer clothing. Have a look.
As part of our winter topic, the children were involved in a science experiment. This was carried out over three days and involved looking at changes in water left at room temperature, in the fridge and in the freezer. The children were asked to predict and discuss results. At the end of the investigation, the children were able to advise that the freezer was best for making ice. Additionally, they were able to note that there was no change in the water left on the table and in the fridge.
Today, some of the morning boys and girls went on a visit to Ben Lui sheltered housing complex. There, the residents enjoyed hearing some of our favourite Christmas songs. The children were warmly received and we have promised to go back at Easter to sing some spring songs.
