Welcome.

Welcome back to all our returning children and welcome to all our new children.  We hope you all had a wonderful summer holiday.   We are now back into the swing of things, settling in and familiarising ourselves with the nursery routines.  This term, we are learning all about ourselves, our families, our homes, Cumbernauld and its place in Scotland.

“So long, farewell…”

June has been a very busy month, not only did we learn about some European countries,  we had a visit from a magician, a picnic in the garden with bouncy castles and some fantastic face painting creations.  We said farewell to our pre-school children at the Graduation, where there was not a dry eye in the nursery!  Thanks to all the parents and family members who attended, it was a very special day.  We wish all the children good luck for Primary 1.  Enjoy the holidays and we will see everyone else in August!

Europe

Throughout the month of June, we are learning about some of the countries in Europe.  Last week, it was all things French.  We had brioche and croissants for snack, we made the flag in lots of different ways, practised our football skills and even participated in the Tour De France!

The Queen of Hearts

This week, we are learning a nursery rhyme each day.  Today it was the Queen of Hearts.  We made crowns in the art area, where we followed a pattern.  In the maths area, we matched the nursery rhyme pictures on the smartboard and created a Queen of Hearts playing card using symmetry.  On Friday, the children can dress up as their favourite nursery rhyme character to carry out the sponsored nursery rhyme challenge.
