We hope you all had a great summer, in spite of the poor weather! The nursery team are looking forward to welcoming back our returning children and our new starts. We will be familiarising ourselves with the nursery environment/routines and ‘getting to know me’, our new topic. Additionally, we would like to wish all of our pre-school children from last year good luck on their first day in Primary 1.

Fun day
Some photos from the last day, when we had great fun in the gym hall.
March
We had a really busy month in March. Our topic was the circus. The children had a great time learning about all the different roles and about caring for animals. In addition to the circus, we learned about the celebration of Easter. We paraded our Easter bonnets throughout the school. We had a visit from the Song and Dance Factory too. It was great fun.
Dinosaurs
Over the past month, we have been learning about dinosaurs. We have read about them, painted with them, sorted them, measured them and even looked their skeletons. This topic has really interested the children.
Science Investigation
Last week, we carried out a science investigation over three days, in order to discover if there was a link between the gradient of a ramp and the distance travelled by a toy car. Each day, we gathered in our groups to discuss and predict possible outcomes. We had great fun playing with the ramps and cars. At the end of the week, we discussed our findings and discovered that the higher the ramp, the further the car went. Have a look.
Busy, busy, busy.
This week the children have been very busy showing us their progression across the curriculum. We demonstrated our cutting skills, pencil control, cloakroom skills, as well as number/letter recognition and number ordering.
Christmas Party
Welcome back. We hope you all enjoyed the holidays and had a Happy New Year. It seems a long time since we had our Christmas party. The children had great fun dancing and playing party games. Santa even came to visit. Take a look.
Nativity
After weeks of rehearsing, the children performed the Nativity, Whoops a Daisy Angel, for all their families to see. It was fantastic, I’m sure the audience would agree. The children sang their hearts out and looked fabulous in their costumes.
The Post Office.
Last week, we went on a visit to the Post Office. We bought stamps and posted letter to our addresses. Have a look.
Cumbernauld
Last week, we looked at where we live. Some of our children knew their house number and street. This allowed us to post letters to our homes. We also looked at Cumbernauld, recognising signs from the town centre. Additionally, we learned about road safety. Take a look.
