Our new topic is ‘The Seaside.’ So far, we have been experimenting with floating and sinking and enjoying the story of the Rainbow Fish. We have also been learning about simple fractions. Have a look.
This week, the children went on a trip to the local post office There, they bought stamps and posted their own Christmas cards to their homes. Their families will be surprised when the post arrives.
On Friday, the fire brigade came to our nursery for a visit. The children were very interested to hear all about the role of the fire fighter and loved having a chance inside the fire engine. The best part was when we all got a chance to use the hose.
The children in the nursery are beginning to notice the changes that the season of Autumn brings, especially in the nursery garden. The autumn winds have blown in litter and lots of leaves have fell from the trees, making our garden a mess. Thankfully, the children were on hand to tidy it up.

This week, we have been thinking about the effects of winter on birds. We had a great time bird spotting in the playground and were able to locate many of the birds on the checklist. We put out birdfeeders to help the birds find food as the ground is too hard to find worms.
As part of our winter topic, we have been learning about warm clothes. Today, we used catalogues to cut out and sort winter and summer clothing. Have a look.
On Friday, we went for an autumn walk in the surrounding area. The children really enjoyed it and thankfully, the weather was fine. We spotted lots of signs that autumn is here. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along and made the walk possible.
Last Wednesday, we had a fantastic outing to Dinom8 in Chapelhall. The children had a ball. The ladies enjoyed themselves too!
