Springtime

Welcome back everybody.  Before the holidays, we were learning about spring.  We used a key to help us paint by numbers – look at our wonderful flower pictures!  We also made number caterpillars to help us sequence up to number five.

Africa Week

Last week was Africa week in Eastfield Primary School.  We were very busy learning about African animals, such as  how they move,  what they eat, what they look like, their different patterns and size. The children also made maps of Africa from play dough and scrunched paper.  On Friday, we finished off the week with an African themed dress up day and an assault course, with the donations raised going to our partner school in Kileva, Kenya. It was great fun.

More space.

We have really enjoyed learning about space.  This week we used lots of different art techniques to make planets, we even tried drawing upside down to help us understand gravity!  We used books to find interesting information about space and used numbered planets to help sequence numbers one to ten.

Space.

Over the next few weeks, we will continue to learn about space.  We have already went on a space hunt, looking for the planets in our solar system.  We also used books to help us find interesting information about space and made star constellations in the art area.

Ice Experiment

As part of our Winter topic, we carried out a science investigation over three days, to discover the changes in ice, when put in water of different temperatures.  We recorded our predictions, water temperatures and the results.  It was very interesting.

Burns Day Celebrations

We have been very busy learning all about Rabbie Burns.  We made tartan pictures, learned some Scottish words and found out about Scottish music.  Today we had a traditional Burns Supper and ceilidh – it was fantastic!  A special thank you to Mrs Breakell for showing us to Highland Fling!
