Yesterday was our nursery trip to Wellsfield Farm in Denny. We had a great time in spite of the wet weather!
Continuing our ‘Seaside’ topic, this week the children have been busy bubble painting, making octopuses, junk model telescopes and treasure chests, baking sea biscuits, playing tennis and sharing out shells and fish scales too!
Our new topic is ‘The Seaside.’ So far, we have been experimenting with floating and sinking and enjoying the story of the Rainbow Fish. We have also been learning about simple fractions. Have a look.
We have been so busy in nursery this week, making spiders webs, moving like minibeasts in the gym hall, making symmetrical butterfly wings and even counting spiders legs!
Our new topic is ‘Minibeasts’. We have been very busy in the garden looking for them, under rocks, in the soil and even under plant pots. We have used checklists to find out the different kinds living in our garden, as well as looking at books to find out information about them.
Last week, the children in the nursery were learning about the Christian celebration of Easter. We looked at Da Vinci’s Last Supper painting, listened to the Easter story, did lots of Easter themed printing, went on an egg hunt and finished off with an Easter bonnet parade.
This week, we have been continuing to learn about growing. We have been watching our sunflower seeds with interest. Some have even started to grow. Our farm shop has proved very popular too.
As part of our ‘New Life’ topic, we are learning about plants. Today all the children in the nursery planted a sunflower seed. Over the next few weeks, the children will be encouraged to look after their individual pot, ensuring that their seed receives enough water and sunlight for it to grow.
Our current topic is ‘New Life’. This week, we have been learning all about baby animals. We looked at the life cycle of a butterfly, used shapes to make chicks, counted the eggs in the birds nests, as well as trying to make some spring themed yoga moves.
This week is our ‘Come and Play Week’. The children have really enjoyed showing their families all around the nursery. Thanks to everyone who has came along. Don’t worry if you haven’t managed, as there is still opportunities today and tomorrow from 10.30am to 11.30am and 14.00pm to 15.00pm.
