Primary 4 have been preparing, alongside with Primary 5 for our Christmas Party. We have learned four traditional Scottish dances: The Gay Gordons’, The Dashing White Sargent, The Virginia Reel and the Military Two Step. We have also been practicing some of our favourite ‘modern’ dances such as The Cha Cha Slide and the Macarena. We have some photos below and are really looking forward to our party!

Our party is on Tuesday the 15th of December, during the school day at 1pm.

Remember if you want to take your child home to change into a party outfit, you can pick your child up from school at 12.05pm. The pupil must be back in school before 1pm.

Road Safety Week

Chryston Primary took part in  Road Safety Week 2015, 23-29th November; this is the UK’s flagship event to promote safer road use, supported by the Department for Transport. Road Safety Week 2015 is all about encouraging people to think about their car use and how they might ‘drive less, live more’. We worked hard on creating some fabulous and practical road safety posters with great and catchy slogans (photos below). We were all dressed brightly to be seen and we had great discussions on how we can all stay safe on the roads.

We had a whole school assembly, in which we all shared some great advice on how to stay safe on the roads, especially in winter. Hannah Mac, Sarah and Kyle Co also performed a short sketch at our assembly, and made their own wonderful lollipop pole! Well done 🙂

Here are some great Road Safety websites, with information and games:

Maths New Topic: Time

Primary 4’s new topic in maths is time. We have been working really hard on understanding how to read a clock, and to know when it is o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to. We have been playing some great time games and we made little mini clocks which help us ‘see’ the time. We have also been ‘making’ the time using our bodies like clocks. Check out our fab photos below!

Children in Need

Chryston Primary took part in Children in Need on Friday the 13th. This year’s theme was ‘heroes’, so the children choose whether they would like to come into school on that day dressed as a hero of their choice, wearing the Pudsey ears or other Children in Need clothes/accessories OR coming in as children as heroes!

We had a great day and the school has raised over £215 so far! We took part in face painting, cake buying, ICT games, Pudsy competitions and loads more. You can learn more about where money raised from Children in Need goes here. Check out our great photos below 🙂

Cooperative Learning: The Human Body

Primary 4 have been very busy on our topic of the human body. We have explored the skeleton and bones, and we are now looking at the respiratory system; the lungs and heart. After this we sent two children from each group onto the next group and shared our facts in a circle. Some of our facts were:
