Banks ‘O’ Doon

Ye banks and brais o bonny doon

how can ye bloom say fresh and fair

how can ye chant ye little bird and i say weiry fu o care

thou brake my heart that warbling bird

that wantons through the flowering thorns

reminds o departed joy

departed- never to return

aft tae i rovd by bonny doon

to see the rose and woodbind twine

an ilka bird sang o its luv

and fondly said did i owe mine

we lightsome heart a pu’d a rose fu sweet apon its thorny tree

but my fause lover straw my rose

but ah he left the thorn with me
