BNF Healthy Eating Week – Get Active

Today we took part in a variety of activities to work on Getting Active as part of one of the 5 challenges for the BNF Healthy Eating Week. We set up our hall with 4 challenges (hula hoop, star jumps, skipping, shuttle runs) and kept a leaderboard of our scores. The winners with the highest scores will receive a prize at our assembly on Friday.

We also held a drop in club at lunch time to play one of our favourite games, DODGEBALL!

BNF Healthy Eating Week – Eatwell Plate

We sorted foods into the correct food groups on the Eatwell plate. We struggled a little with tofu and yams, as they’re not something we use/eat very often.

BNF Healthy Eating Week – Fruit Tasting

Today is the start of our healthy eating week. We had sessions for all classes to take part in fruit tasting. We enjoyed trying fruits we hadn’t tried before. P5/6/7a enjoyed the grapes, melon and watermelon the best. We have our trackers ready to keep all our challenge achievements.

Lunching out

We have been going to the cafe on a weekly basis for juice and biscuits, but this week we went for lunch. This gave us the opportunity to practice our social skills we have been working on and the opportunity to use our financial knowledge to pay for items and calculate change. Rolls and sausage and tomato soup……tasted good! Mmmmm!

Focus On Food

This morning, Primary 1/2/3 had a wonderful treat! Mrs McCarron came to help us cook some delicious Frittatas using gruyere cheese, potatoes, smoked bacon, eggs, milk, worcester sauce, chives, sweetcorn and pepper.

The children learned about hygiene, safe knife skills; including the bridge cutting method, and how to use each utensil. The end results were fantastic and we all enjoyed trying our finished frittatas.
