Term 2 Learning Clubs – Science
The children at Science club investigated lots of different principles of Science, including forces and friction. All of it was done in a fun and investigative way.
Investigating friction
Miss Ross and P3/4 have been conducting lots of science experiments, investigating friction.
P1/2 Minibeast Hunt
The Human Body
P5/6/7 have been learning about the human body and have been investigating the joints in the human skeleton.
Attention all scientists !
Watch and learn how one of our pupils was inspired during our science and technology week.
Why not try some of the experiments for yourself !
Whitelees Wind Farm
P5/6/7 visited the wind farm as part of their investigation of renewable energy.
By considering examples where energy is conserved, I can identify the energy source, how it is transferred and ways of reducing wasted energy. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â SCN 2-04a
Through exploring non- renewable energy sources, I can describe how they are used in Scotland today and express an informed view on the implications for their future use. Visit to Faskine Farm
P1-4 visited a local farm to visit the chicks that they had hatched in school a few months ago. The have now grown into hens and are producing eggs of their own.  We enjoyed the Autumn walk and the chance to see the cattle. Our highlight of the visit was the opportunity  to sit in the big red tractor !
I can explore examples of food chains and show an appreciation of how animals and plants depend on each other for food.

Planetarium Visit
Our science & technology week got off to a flying start today with a visit from ThinkScience ! John brought along an inflatable planetarium to help us learn more about the stars in our night sky.
Learners develop their understanding of the Earth’s position within the universe while developing a sense of time and scale.
