The first year football team won their first league match of the season, coming out on top by the odd goal in five in a thrilling 3-2 contest away to Caldervale High School from Airdrie. The Valley side started well and took a 1-0 lead in a game that was closely contested throughout. The home side equalised and then edged into a 2-1 lead. However, the Clyde Valley side showed great resilience to claw back to level terms before snatching the all-important winner in the second half.
Ross Hayhoe, with a double, and Logan Lawrie netted for Clyde Valley. Every single player in the squad played his part in a most encouraging win for Mr Conway’s side. A special mention must go to David Kennedy, however, for an inspiring man-of-the-match performance.
