Pupils found a new-look to the school when they returned after the long summer break. The swimming pool has undergone a major transformation and has been refurbished to create new Craft workshops for the Design and Technology Department. The former pool now houses two craft workshop areas with a classroom space in the middle.
The Design Technology Department now also occupies an ICT room on the second floor of the main teaching block for Graphics. The new Construction area is located in the former Education resource Service area in the ground floor of the Science Block.
The demolition of the old Technical Block has started. This will allow site access for the building of the new CVHS Campus when work starts later in the session.
Mr Sommerville, the Head Teacher, expressed his appreciation to all those involved in the summer building programme:
‘I must pay tribute to all of the North Lanarkshire Council Departments who played a part in achieving the transformation of the swimming pool area. These support and development services have created a stunning new workshop area. This will ensure the technical curriculum will be delivered in the best possible learning environment during the Campus Development. What they have achieved in such a short pace of time is remarkable.’
