{"id":490,"date":"2024-06-06T11:26:27","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T10:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/CNHSScienceWebsite\/?page_id=490"},"modified":"2024-06-06T12:26:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T11:26:42","slug":"health-sector","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/CNHSScienceWebsite\/health-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The Skills for Work &#8211; Health Sector course is \u00a0designed to provide learners with opportunities to develop Core Skills and Skills for Learning, Skills for Life and Skills for Work, with a strong focus on enhancing skills and attitudes for employability while learning in the context of the Health and Care Sectors.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The health sector includes the National Health Service,\u00a0 independent healthcare, complementary therapies, the life sciences and retail pharmaceutical industries, and the community and voluntary sectors.\u00a0 These areas are seen as a growth industries across Scotland, offering a wide variety of employment opportunities at a range of levels.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">National 5 Health Sector gives learners a broad experiential introduction to clinical and non-clinical roles in the health sector, and the teamworking and fundamental practical skills involved.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Learners will:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">produce a CV and take part in a mock interview.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">investigate different job roles available in the health sector, taking part in supervised role plays considering health and safety, and risk.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">look at how technology and pharmaceuticals are used in diagnosis and treatment.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">learn how the cardiovascular system works and practise taking measurements and providing basic practical life support.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\n<p>look at health and lifestyle issues, and how they could apply and provide help and advice in a health sector role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The course gives learners the opportunity to develop employability skills and attitudes valued by employers in the health sector and beyond.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">There is no final exam for this course however assessment is in the form of ongoing assessment throughout the course completing specific tasks to a suitable level.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Learners who complete the course may be able to progress into further or higher education, training or employment.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Skills for Work &#8211; Health Sector course is \u00a0designed to provide learners with opportunities to develop Core Skills and Skills for Learning, Skills for Life and Skills for Work, with a strong focus on enhancing skills and attitudes for employability while learning in the context of the Health and Care Sectors.
