Firstly I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
Following the announcement by the Scottish Government to extend the period of online learning until at least Monday 1st February 2021 I would like to raise a few points:
Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th January 2021
School open to keyworker and vulnerable to assist childcare.
As of Monday 11th January 2021 (Keyworker and Vulnerable pupils)
Keyworker and vulnerable pupils will continue to gain access to the building to be supervised by staff where they can gain access to online learning provided by their subject specific teachers.
Whilst inside the building we are asking our young people to socially distance at this time to help stop the transmission of COVID-19. We would ask you to remind your young person of the following information enclosed related to COVID-19 mitigations which they should adhere to.
Each morning we would ask that ALL pupils enter via the Main Entrance and register with a teacher present. At this point they will be asked to take a socially distanced seat in the canteen and then allocated a workspace for the full day which will be a room with computer access. These classes will be made up to allow adequate social distancing. Pupils are asked to remain in this room other than going to the toilet and over break and lunchtime.
As of Monday 11th January 2021 (All other pupils)
Young people will be able to access work for ALL their subjects via Glow Teams set up by their subject teachers. If anyone has lost their password they can contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org to request this to be reset.
The examination diet that was previously known as prelims was scheduled to take place week beginning 18th January 2021. This can longer happen due to lockdown. It is our intention NOT to announce a new date for now given the uncertainty of the current situation. We hope to be in a better position to make a decision on a new set of dates the week beginning 25th January 2021.
This will continue for pupils as currently stands. If numbers are such that this is unsustainable then other arrangements will be put in place by NLC.
How work will be set up
Units of work will be posted by subject specific staff onto Teams. Staff will then however divide this into more manageable, period by period sub-units. Staff can be contacted via Teams Chat during timetabled periods by our young people (There may be occasional instances for operational reasons where a particular staff member is not available to be contacted according to a young person’s timetable). For pupils’ in S1 to S4 the week beginning Monday 11th January 2021 is Timetable Week A.
Teen talk will continue to deliver sessions remotely and will be in touch directly with individuals.
The authority has requested that the evidence for key worker status is submitted to the school on arrival.
