Born in 1951 in Newburgh, Fife.

Brought up locally in Netherton, Wishaw.

Educated in   Netherton Primary School 1956 – 61

Knowetop Primary School 1961 – 63

Dalziel High School, Motherwell 1963 – 69

Scottish School of PE, Jordanhill College 1969 – 72

Teaching

1969–72:  Attended the Scottish School of Physical Education as Jordanhill College in Glasgow.

1972-73:  Taught in P.E in Holy Cross High School, Hamilton and St. Saviour’s Secondary School,  Bellshill

1973-74:  P.E Teacher in Holy Cross High School, Hamilton.

1974:       Joined Coltness High School as A.P.T Guidance and P.E Teacher. Served as Acting P.T of P.E and of Guidance on a number of occasions.

2004:        Appointed P.T of Pupil Support.

2012:        Retired from teaching after 40 years, 38 of which were spent in Coltness High School.

 

Football

School Teams, Boys Clubs including Bonkle FC and Drumchapel Amateurs.

1967-68:        Scottish Schools U-18 Finalists at Hampden.

1969:            On leaving school signed amateur for Wishaw Juniors. Left Wishaw to                                                 play for College Team in Scottish Combined Reserve League.

1970:              Signed amateur for East Stirlingshire.

1971:              Selected for Scotland Amateurs V Wales.

1972:              Signed for Scotland Amateurs V Wales and England.

1972-75:        Signed as Professional with East Stirlingshire following Graduation as P.E Teacher.

1975-76:         Transferred to Clydebank F.C where we won 2 consecutive promotions with players such as Davy Cooper and Mike Larnach.  

1977-78:          Transferred to Stirling Albion where I spent 2 seasons.

1979-80:          Transferred to Queen of The South and then to Albion Rovers where I scored a first-half hat-trick on my debut.

1980-81:          Returned to junior football with Ballieston Juniors.

1981-86:          Played with Lesmahagow Juniors.

1986-88:          Transferred to Stonehouse Violet F.C.

1988-89:          Transferred to Muirkirk Juniors.

1989-90:          Transferred to Carluke Rovers F.C.

1990-91:          Transferred to Larkhall Thistle as Player/Manager

1991-94:          Joined Stonehouse Violet F.C (again) as Player/Manager.

1994-95:          Joined Royal Albert as Player/Manager.

1995:                Retired from football aged 44 and began playing golf.
