This is an important step in preparing all pupils for the next stage of learning at Cumbernauld Academy.<\/p>\n<p>The information below explains:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What the S4\/5 into S5\/6 options process <span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">involves<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">What it means for your child <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">How parents and carers can support decision-making at home<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What Is the S4\/5 into S5\/6 Options Process?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During S4 and S5, pupils begin to make choices regarding the subjects they will study in the following session. This will be a continuation of Senior Phase where our young people follow and build upon their National Qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>For pupils moving from S4 into S5 they will reduce subjects from a maximum of seven to 5 in turn freeing up more time for their chosen subject areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How the Process Works<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The process is already underway with pupils supported through the options process in several ways. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>participating in assemblies and class-based discussions<\/li>\n<li>having opportunities to speak with subject teachers and Pupil Support staff<\/li>\n<li>being given access to information about S5\/6 subjects and pathways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Supporting Your Child at Home<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parents and carers play an important role in supporting pupils during this process.
