{"id":7568,"date":"2020-03-29T15:15:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T15:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/Braidhurst\/?p=7568"},"modified":"2020-03-29T15:24:08","modified_gmt":"2020-03-29T15:24:08","slug":"school-support-for-key-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/Braidhurst\/2020\/03\/29\/school-support-for-key-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"School Support for Key Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Support for Key Workers (Update 29.03.20)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>School Hubs\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are now providing a\u00a0<strong>seven-day<\/strong>\u00a0school and childcare support operation across ten school hubs\u00a0<strong>ONLY<\/strong>\u00a0for key workers to enable them to carry out their critical roles in the NHS or other essential services during this health emergency.<\/p>\n<p>All ten of our school hubs will be open from:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday to Friday<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>from tomorrow<\/em><\/strong>, Monday 30 March between the hours of 8am and 8pm and at the weekends on\u00a0<strong>Saturdays and Sundays<\/strong>\u00a0from 10am to 3pm, to provide crucial care for key workers and other vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n<p>It is\u00a0<strong>essential<\/strong>, to stop the spread of\u00a0coronavirus, that parents and carers who are able to take care of their children at home or have a partner\u00a0who is not a key worker, provide\u00a0childcare. This seven-day support is being offered to key workers who absolutely require it to enable NHS and other critical services to function.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES\u00a0<\/strong>should any child who has symptoms of coronavirus, or who lives in a household where someone has symptoms, present at school. Children and young people will be offered a range of indoor and outdoor active play, sport and leisure activities with Active Schools, Culture and Leisure North Lanarkshire (CLNL) and third-sector partners for the after-care and weekend service.<\/p>\n<p>In line with government guidance, all staff and children and young people attending the hub schools are exercising social distancing measures and practising good hand hygiene while enjoying a range of activities.<\/p>\n<p>Appropriate risk assessments have been carried out at each venue and incorporate relevant adult\/pupil ratios and the specific needs of children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>As before, all parents\/carers will need to complete a keyworker form on arrival at the hub school.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer staff should attend hub school nearest their place of work for 8.45am.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Transport<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Key workers must take their child to the relevant school hub as listed above. No school transport will run.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Free school meals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk\/index.aspx?articleid=34915\">new payment system is being set up for pupils<\/a>\u00a0who receive free school meals &#8211;\u00a0this includes all primary 1 to primary 3 pupils.<\/p>\n<p>This commenced\u00a0on Friday 27 March and will run throughout the current health crisis.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ASN Schools<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>From Monday 30 March 2020<\/strong>, five ASN schools will be in operation as listed below. They will be open\u00a0<strong>Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 3pm<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Firpark Primary School,<\/strong>\u00a0177 Milton Street, Motherwell, ML1 1DH<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buchanan High School<\/strong>, 67 Townhead Road, Coatbridge, ML5 2HT<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mavisbank<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>School,<\/strong>\u00a0Mitchell St, Airdrie ML6 0EB<\/p>\n<p><strong>Redburn School and Nursery,\u00a0<\/strong>Kildrum Rd, Cumbernauld, Glasgow G67 2EL<\/p>\n<p><strong>Portland High School,\u00a0<\/strong>31-33 Kildonan St, Coatbridge ML5 3LG<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Early Years Provision<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Key workers who require care for their child or children will be supported by the school hubs as outlined above.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Key worker categories<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please note: these are the categories of key workers who can, if absolutely necessary, access support. The council does not make decisions, beyond council employees, about who must or must not attend work.
