Members
\nof the Goethe Institute in Glasgow visited Braidhurst High School last week to
\norganise a \u2018German Adventure\u2019 morning for S2 pupils.   <\/span>Pupils were put into groups of four and were
\nrequired to \u2018visit\u2019 a number of cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and
\nto carry out prescribed tasks.   <\/span>The
\ngroup which covered the most cities and gained the most answers correct in the
\nshortest time won a prize.   <\/span>Tasks
\nincluded identifying famous brands of aftershave in German, finding words on a
\ngiant wordsquare, looking at Facebook posts in German, cracking number codes
\nand learning about famous German manufacturers.   <\/span>They also had the opportunity to don German
\nwigs and hats to resemble German football fans at football matches.   <\/span>There was much frantic moving from room to
\nroom as pupils carried out the tasks with zeal and determination.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nwinning group was Christopher Duncan, Shah Afzahl and Jordan Falconer from
\nclass 2L.   <\/span>Pictured with them are Tammy
\nSmith, Kristy Speirs, Amber Waldron and Amy Marshall, who also won a prize for
\nremembering the code to unlock the \u2018safe\u2019.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

All
\npupils were complimented on their enthusiasm, excellent behaviour and
\nteam-working skills.   <\/span>The pupils
\nthoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to extend their knowledge of the culture of
\nGerman speaking countries and many hope to continue their study of German in
\nS3.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n
