The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Holiday To celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the council has agreed to an additional public holiday in June 2022. Next year,

Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, with 70 years of service. To observe this occasion, there will be four days of national celebration commencing on Thursday 2 June through to Sunday 5 June 2022, giving people an opportunity to celebrate this historic milestone with their family, friends and communities. There will be a number of official public events, national moments of reflection as well as community activities.

For schools, the late May bank holiday which is normally the last Friday and Monday in May, has been changed to accommodate the Jubilee celebrations and schools will now close to staff and pupils on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June 2022.

The May school holidays will now be as follows:

• Monday 2 May 2022
• Friday 27 May 2022
• Thursday 2 June 2022 and Friday 3 June 2022
