Over the last 4 weeks we have worked with Mr O’Neil, an English teacher from St. Margaret’s High School. We have enjoyed analysing a poem called; ‘The Listeners’ and have been able to show off our knowledge of the six comprehension strategies.
Primary 7 enjoyed cooking up a storm with Scottish culture in mind. We were treated to Surprise Smoothies, Blueberry and Banana pancakes, Caledonian Crumbles, Saltire Cupcakes, Bannockburn wraps and delicious Oatcakes.
The children showed a mature attitude during their work on the enterprise project and enterprise skills were evident throughout. They researched Scottish events of 2014; Homecoming 2014, Commonwealth Games 2014, Ryder Cup 2014 and the 700th anniversary of Bannockburn. A decision was then made after investigating Scottish foods and then recipes were drawn up.
Everyone had a chance to cook and create their recipe and packaging. It was an exciting week in Primary 7 and the children were delighted with their creations.
Today we started our transition with St. Margaret’s High School, we welcomed Mr. Lamb from the Maths Department and enjoyed showing him our skills. He was very impressed with our knowledge of our multiplication tables.
As part of their study of World War Two, Primary 7 learned who would carry gas masks, why they were essential and what they would look like.
With card and junk they designed and made their own gas masks. Here are some photographs.
On Friday Morning Primary 7 presented their learning from their World War 2 topic to the rest of the school.
It was very informative and presented very well. The pupils from Primary 7 decided what they wanted to share with their peers, wrote their own script and designed their own individual slides.
Well done everyone, you should be very proud of yourselves, you have learned lots about World War 2 and shared lots of your learning with the whole school.
Primary Seven are very excited about their trip to Kilbowie. They have spent some time  looking at The Outdoor Centre’s webpage and glow forum and are now set to go.

Primary 7 have really worked hard and made a great effort in their writing this week. They have put themselves in the shoes of a child evacuee from World War 2 and have looked at developing the setting and feelings of their character.
We held a sharing circle this afternoon where children read their favourite parts of their writing for their peers to hear.

Primary Seven are learning to write information texts and are preparing to write reports on a topic of their choice.
Their latest homework challenge is to do some Personal Research in preparation for the writing. So far the planning is going well and the titles are looking very interesting.

Primary 7 have been learning about the Beatitudes from he Gospel of Luke and have considered the feeling of happiness. We thought about times when we have been happy and what happiness means. We then listed all they keywords and put them into Tagxedo, an online word art creator. Here are some of our creations:
