Every member of staff is responsible for
establishing and maintaining positive relationships with each other, with parents and with partners and, most importantly, with the young people in their care.

Our expectations of behaviour for children and young people are high. Some children may require additional support in relation to their behaviour, and the school will work positively with the young person and the parents, and other partners, as appropriate, to ensure positive outcomes are achieved.

North Ayrshire Council is committed to the principles of Restorative Practices. This is a solution-focused approach to managing behaviour and resolving difficulties and which promotes healthy relationships that enable better behaviour and better learning. In line with North Ayrshire Council’s guidance, St Mary’s Primary School staff and pupils have been trained in Restorative Approach. Our school ethos is built on maintaining excellent relationships between staff, pupils and parents, and the wider community. In order to support this, Restorative Conversations are based on consistent use of language by all parties.
