There are 54 articles which explain all the rights children hold legally across the world.<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-668 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/public\/stmarksirvine\/uploads\/sites\/13267\/2023\/09\/29075351\/download-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"121\" height=\"160\" \/>\u201cArticle 1 (definition of the child): Everyone under the age of 18 has the rights in the Convention.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><u>What is a Rights Respecting School?<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The initiative encourages schools to not only learn about children\u2019s rights but also to encourage respect in all relationships. The St. Mark\u2019s community models rights and respect in all relationships: between adults and between pupils. Together young people and the school community learn about children\u2019s rights, putting them into practice every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The RRSA encompasses all that we do as a school to allow our children flourish into kind and respectful lifelong learners who advocate the rights of every child everywhere and make a positive contribution to society.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><em>Be Ready\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><em>\u00a0Be Safe\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Be Respectful<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><u>Why do we want to be a Rights Respecting School?<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Positive Relationships \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Through striving to achieve the award pupils, staff and the school community develop relationships of mutual respect and everyone\u2019s opinion has equal value.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Happy Children \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Children develop their self-esteem and wellbeing through\u00a0promoting the values identified in the UNCRC.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Active Participants in School \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Through embedding\u00a0the UNCRC, children are involved in the decision making progress and are\u00a0part of the decisions made about their learning and\u00a0wellbeing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Promote Global Citizenship \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Children will learn about issues affecting children around the world and are able to raise awareness at home and in their community.\u00a0 They will discover ways they can help others\u00a0get the rights with which they are\u00a0entitled and bring about change.
