Street Art

We have been learning to discuss the purpose of street art and create lettering, in the style of a street artist, to promote equality and anti-discrimination. We have produced some fantastic artwork! 🎨

Our Wonderful Topic Evening

On the 12th of October we had an amazing school topic evening. P1/2 performed a lovely dance in the style of royalty.  In our class we showed our documentary about shipbuilding on the Clyde that we prepared in class. Our parents also scanned the different QR codes around the classroom to answer our online quizzes that we created. They were really impressed with all our fantastic work over the past few weeks.

We had a raffle and the prizes were Scottish hampers which were full of Scottish Goodies.

Our Class Trip

We went on a class trip to the Irvine Martime Mueseum. We got a Hardies coach to take us there. When we got there we departed the bus and went to the education room to have our snack and drink. I think everyone enjoyed it. After that we went out of the museum to visit an old shipyard and went on the MV Kyles which is the oldest sea going ship in the world. After that we went to see an outstandingly old shipbuilder’s flat. It was very interesting but a little bit small. Afterwards we took a small but tiring stroll back to the museum.  We then went to the education room to watch a mini movie about shipbuilding and it was very interesting. We departed the education room and went to the engine room and inside was a miniture version of a engine that would of been in the QE2. After that we had a tour of the museum and had a go at the boat simulator. We all really enjoyed our day!

iTeach

Our class had a lesson from a man that came in from “iTeach” to teach us about the app called Book Creator, that uses no wifi. We had to break into partners and each get an iPad but luckily he had his own iPads and they already had the app so we didn’t use up the wifi.  Our topic is Shipbuilding on the Clyde so we focused the book on our topic. We learned how to airdrop photos of ships to other iPads and add a voice recording. In the end all of us managed to get three pages of an eBook stuffed full of photos, voice recordings, plain old text, and even a realistic virtual page turner!

Grandparents Morning

This morning was Grandparents Morning. Lots of grandparents came to watch their grandchildren do their work. In our class, as our morning challenge we had to ask our grandparents questions about shipbuilding because shipbuilding is our class topic. Some childrens’ grandparents couldn’t make it to the grandparents morning. We showed our grandparents how to make sillhouttes of River Clyde bridges. A couple of the grandparents tried making a River Clyde bridge sillhouttes. After we made the River Clyde bridge sillhouttes we did a ‘I see, I think, I wonder…’ worksheet. Oh and I also forgot to mention that we had to label our sillhouttes. It was an amazing Grandparents morning indeed.

Our Learning So Far

We have enjoyed our first few days at school with our amazing teacher Miss Armstrong. We have been challenging ourselves and each other with maths challenge cards. We are enjoying the morning challenges because they are fun and prepare us for the day. In our recount writing, we wrote all about our exciting summer holidays. We have been practicing our typing skills and we really enjoyed it. In literacy, we have been learning to infer and make connections between ourselves and the characters in Artemis Fowl. In art, we were following instructions to improve our drawing skills and have created fantastic blue jay drawings.

First Day Back at School!

Today was our first day back at school. Our new classroom looks amazing! We have got a new reading corner and a new whiteboard. We had circle time and talked about our holiday. We played a game where you write down 2 true things about yourself and one lie and everyone else had to guess which fact was the lie. We wrote about our summer holidays, who we saw, where we went, what we did and our last day. Every morning we have a morning challenge.
