Today we have enjoyed learning about adaptation and how animals, plants and other living things have changed over time so that they better suit their habitat. Charles Darwin studied the wildlife on the Galápagos Islands and noticed that finches on the islands showed variation in their size, claws and beaks. We learned that the beaks were different depending on the local food source and we therefore predicted and tested which beak would be best for each food type. We had 5 different food types and 5 different beaks. At each location, we predicted which beak we thought would work best for that food, then tested the beaks to see if our prediction was correct, recording our results as we went along.
