The Council encourages each school to adopt its own code, after consultation with parents and pupils.<\/p>\n<p>The Council believes that establishing a school dress code has many benefits. These include improvements in safety, security, positive behaviour and community spirit and a decrease in bullying and in expense for parents.<\/p>\n<p>The Council will support schools in encouraging and helping pupils to conform to the chosen dress code. Some types of clothing will not be allowed at school in any circumstances, for reasons of safety, decency or wellbeing.\u00a0Wearing of jewellery is not encouraged.<\/p>\n<p>Types of clothing which will not be allowed include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clothes which are a health or safety risk<\/li>\n<li>Clothes which may damage the school building<\/li>\n<li>Clothes which may provoke other pupils<\/li>\n<li>Clothes which are offensive or indecent<\/li>\n<li>Clothes which encourage the use of alcohol or tobacco<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Dress Code is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blue school sweatshirt<\/li>\n<li>White school polo shirt<\/li>\n<li>Black or navy trousers\/shorts\/skirt\/pinafore<\/li>\n<li>Blue &amp; white summer dress<\/li>\n<li>Black or navy shoes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with the child&#8217;s name in case of loss. It is appreciated that parents and pupils are distressed over the occasional loss of pupils&#8217; clothing and\/or personal belongings. Parents are asked to assist in this area by ensuring that valuable items of clothing or personal belongings are not brought to school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal Belongings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is appreciated that parents and pupils may be distressed over the occasional loss of pupil\u2019s clothing and\/or personal belongings. \u00a0Parents are asked to assist by ensuring that valuable items of clothing or personal belongings are NOT brought to school.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Parents should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items<\/u><\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dress Code for PE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For health and safety reasons all children must wear suitable clothing for PE.<\/p>\n<p>We adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines and pupils must remove any item that may cause danger, i.e. metal buckles, jewellery. These items are the responsibility of the pupil.
