Episode 1 The Journal
We found an old journal washed up on the beach in the Open Area. We have used collage material to create the character we thought wrote the journal. We have been learning how to write character descriptions using adjectives to describe the characters’ appearance.
We have been exploring the island and enjoying a variety of activities.
We made a shelter on the beach using things washed up from the ship wreck.

Dolphin Bay! Collecting data and recording using tally marks then making a bargraph to show the results. We then analysed our data.
A trip to Discovery Point to explore a number of different science challenges. We investigated blowing bubbles, making droplets, building sandcastles with wet or dry sand, sorting shells and using the magnifying glasses and timed experiments using our left and right hands.
A visit to Mermaid Cove to make our very own mermaid and use bubble wrap to print a pattern on its tail.
Mystery Point was where we applied for a job on a pirate ship and then wrote our diary.
Episode 2 The Shelter
We used graffiti boards to brainstorm what a shelter is and the type of things we might find on a beach, which could be used to build a shelter.
Building the Shelter
Oh No! We’ve been shipwrecked on an island and there’s a storm coming! Quick, build a shelter to keep warm and cosy.

We have been learning how to write instructions. We wrote instructions on how to build our shelters.
Episode 3 The Map
We found a map and went exploring around the island. We then investigated real maps of islands and discovered that an island is surrounded by water. Maps show where places are, they can have symbols written in a key.
