Feedback

Feedback is one of the top 10 influences on pupil achievement according to John Hattie. (It has an effect size of 0.75) Decades of educational research supports the idea that by teaching less and providing more feedback, we can produce greater learning. Less “teaching,” more feedback equals better results. Feedback can improve a pupil’s confidence, self-awareness and enthusiasm for learning. The goal of feedback is to provide pupils with insight that helps them to improve their performance (Dylan Wiliam) Feedback lets pupils know how they are doing while there is still time to adjust and perfect their efforts. The key issue is in providing effective feedback.

We explore Feedback with establishments and practitioners in our Twilight sessions and through our Visible Learning programme.
