Visible Learning

Visible learning is a whole school approach to learning and teaching that encourages teachers to see learning through the eyes of their pupils. The aim of the approach is to activate learners as their own teachers and to instill an ethos that teachers continually evaluate the impact of their practice.

Hattie has identified five (often inter-connected) strands that underpin the Visible Learning approach:

  • Visible Learners
  • Know Thy Impact
  • Inspired and Passionate Teachers
  • Effective Feedback
  • Visible Learning schools

An overview of these five strands can be accessed here

The Professional Learning Academy works in collaboration with North Ayrshire Educational Psychology to support establishments and practitioners in implementing Visible Learning.
