Pedagogy

“If we create a culture where every teacher believes they need to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better, there is no limit to what we can achieve.” Dylan Wiliam

Pedagogy is often defined as “the art of teaching”. Learning is dependent on the pedagogical approaches teachers use in the classroom. Evidence based pedagogical approaches underpin all our literacy and numeracy interventions.

The quality of  teaching practice in classrooms is one of the most crucial factors in pupil achievement . Even after accounting for prior  learning and family background, research suggests that teacher quality is a highly significant  factor in student achievement.

We aim to support practitioners by regularly reviewing evidence on pedagogical approaches and sharing and modelling these approaches in our twilights and interventions.
