{"id":18,"date":"2019-01-26T13:51:33","date_gmt":"2019-01-26T13:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/pirnmillprimary\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2020-01-28T10:12:03","modified_gmt":"2020-01-28T10:12:03","slug":"uniforms","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/pirnmillprimary\/uniforms\/","title":{"rendered":"Uniforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is the policy of North Ayrshire council to support the introduction of a reasonable and flexible dress code in schools in its area.\u00a0 The Council encourages each school to adopt its own code, after consultation with parents and pupils.<\/p>\n<p>The Council believes that establishing a school dress code has many benefits.\u00a0 These include improvements in safety, security, positive behaviour and community spirit and a decrease in bullying and in expense for parents.<\/p>\n<p>The Council will support schools in encouraging and helping pupils to conform to the chosen dress code.\u00a0 Some types of clothing will not be allowed at school in any circumstances, for reasons of safety, decency or wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>Types of clothing that will not be allowed include clothes which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are a health or safety risk<\/li>\n<li>May damage the school building<\/li>\n<li>May provoke other pupils<\/li>\n<li>Are offensive or indecent<\/li>\n<li>Encourage the use of alcohol or tobacco<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Our Dress Code is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Red school sweatshirt<\/li>\n<li>Black or grey trousers\/shorts\/skirt\/pinafore<\/li>\n<li>White school polo shirt<\/li>\n<li>Red &amp; white summer dress<\/li>\n<li>Black shoes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dress Code for PE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For health &amp; safety reasons all children must wear suitable clothing for PE.<\/p>\n<p>We also adhere strictly to health &amp; safety guidelines and pupils must remove any item which may cause danger e.g. metal buckles, watches, earrings, jewellery etc.\u00a0 These items are the responsibility of the pupils.\u00a0 Long hair should be tied back.<\/p>\n<p>Newly pierced ears may be covered at home during the initial healing process:\u00a0 approximately six weeks.\u00a0 After this time earrings must be removed for PE\/swimming lessons.\u00a0 <strong>Please note that staff are not permitted to remove or tape over earrings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our PE Dress Code is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>White t-shirt<\/li>\n<li>Black or navy shorts<\/li>\n<li>Gym shoes or \u201cindoor\u201d trainers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Personal Belongings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with the child\u2019s name in case of loss.\u00a0 It is appreciated that parents and pupils are distressed over the occasional loss of clothing and\/or personal belongings.\u00a0 Parents are asked to assist in this area by ensuring that valuable items of clothing or personal belongings are not brought to school.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Parents should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is the policy of North Ayrshire council to support the introduction of a reasonable and flexible dress code in schools in its area.\u00a0 The Council encourages each school to adopt its own code, after consultation with parents and pupils.
