Welcome to Opportunities For All – For North Ayrshire’s Young People

Welcome to our Opportunities for All webpages.  We have structured these pages to provide information on how North Ayrshire Council works with partners to deliver the elements contained within this overarching Scottish Government strategy.

What is Opportunities for All

Opportunities for All is a Scottish Government strategy that brings together a range of existing national and local policies and strategies as a single focus to improve young people’s participation in post-16 learning and training, and ultimately employment, through appropriate interventions and support until at least their 20th birthday.

The overarching strategy builds on commitments made through the senior phase of Curriculum for Excellence, 16+ Learning Choices and More Choices, More Chances

The Commitment

Opportunities for All is an explicit commitment to offer a place in learning or training to every 16-19 year old who is not currently in employment, education or training.

The aim

Opportunities for All ensures access for all young people to a range of opportunities, including staying on at school, national training programmes, university and college places, Activity Agreements and additional opportunities through Inspiring Scotland, Community Jobs Scotland and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Jobcentre Plus

Learning Pathways in the Senior phase are planned within our schools to ensure the breadth and scope of curriculum that offers challenge and variety.

How does this work in North Ayrshire Council?

Education and Youth Employment works closely with other Council services, and national and local partners including employers, to support schools in developing and delivering local initiatives to deliver this overarching strategy
