Research also indicates the importance of whole family support to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of children and young people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We have the skills <\/strong>\u2013 North Ayrshire already has a key focus on positive relationships, nurturing approaches and positive mental health and wellbeing as part of it\u2019s approach to supporting children and young people.\u00a0 By developing this service, we hope to build a sustainable, multiagency, holistic, strengths focussed community-based assessment and support service for families, building on the wealth of skills within North-Ayrshire Council HSCP and Communities &amp; Education Directorate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Referral Pathways In<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Schools and Service Access will refer to the team through using the Request for Assistance form as part of the Named person service or CareFirst systems<\/p>\n<p>Who can be referred?<\/p>\n<p>Children and young people of ages 5-18 years who live in North Ayrshire.<\/p>\n<p>Common themes might include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children\/YP presenting as unsettled or disengaged in school,<\/li>\n<li>Children\/YP struggling with peer relationships or showing signs of poor wellbeing.<\/li>\n<li>Children\/YP having attendance issues.<\/li>\n<li>Families where there may be some breakdown in relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Families who need help building routines\/ structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Referral Pathways On<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are likely to be times when direct work from the family wellbeing workers is not the best support and so referral on to the following service might be appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>School Nurses<\/p>\n<p>Educational Psychologist<\/p>\n<p>Welfare Rights Officer<\/p>\n<p>Area Inclusion worker<\/p>\n<p>GPs\/Community Link Workers<\/p>\n<p>Housing<\/p>\n<p>Social work\/Service Access<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do we do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Step 1 \u2013 Assessment<\/p>\n<p>Meeting with family, observation, gathering information, completing questionnaires or checklists for example through using Outcome Star or other evidenced based assessment tools.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2 \u2013 Planning<\/p>\n<p>Collaborate with the family to form a Family Wellbeing Plan \u2013 Goal setting\/Timescales and how do we reach these together.<\/p>\n<p>Step 3 \u2013 Intervention or Signposting<\/p>\n<p>Option A \u2013 Intervention<\/p>\n<p>Option B \u2013 Signposting on to other services for example like those listed above<\/p>\n<p><strong>What interventions can we offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>General advice and guidance to support practical issues\/promote positive relationships<\/li>\n<li>Support with sleep routines and boundary setting<\/li>\n<li>Support with co-regulation of emotions<\/li>\n<li>Parenting support groups<\/li>\n<li>Building on positive relationships groupwork (BPR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What do we mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Building on Positive Relationships (BPR families) &#8211;\u00a0 <\/strong>A 8 week programme for parents and carers which uses relational approaches to support families where children are resistant to other models of support and they have become stuck.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Family Centred Wellbeing Service Our Vision \u2018We aim to work alongside families in a flexible, collaborative way, to empower them to use their own unique strengths to flourish\u2019 Our Principles Bespoke Family Support Early intervention Holistic Outcome focused Clarity (accessible) Responsive to needs.
