Welcome Back 2023-2024
We are looking forward to this new session at Mayfield Primary School and Early Years Class. We hope you have all had a wonderful summer!

The staff and pupils at Mayfield Primary would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope you enjoy your Christmas holiday. The school will reopen at 9am on Monday 6th January 2020. We look forward to seeing you then.
Christmas Service
Primary 3/2 and 3/4 delivered a wonderful Christmas Service on Thursday 19th December. They retold the Christmas story and encouraged everyone to think about gifts that we can give each other that don’t involve buying a present like showing kindness to others and thinking about other people. We also enjoyed singing songs from the infant nativity and upper school Christmas show, as well as the children’s favourite, ‘Cascabels’.
If you didn’t manage along, here are some photos of the morning.
Christmas Parties 2019
The boys and girls of Mayfield have enjoyed their Christmas parties this week with one party even enjoying a surprise visit from Santa! We would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Iain McGrory who was our fabulous DJ and Master of Ceremonies for the 3 days.
Tin Whistle
We have some very talented budding musicians in Primary 5 this year who have started learning how to play the tin whistle. They are already building up a fantastic repertoire of pieces to play at different events in the school and we can’t wait to hear them in action soon.
Thinking Teams Feedback
Term 1 has been very busy and we have been hard at work in our various Thinking Teams. Thinking Teams are a great way for our pupils to have their say in events and the running of Mayfield. We got together to share what our Thinking Teams have been up to with the rest of the school.
Harvest
Primary 5/6 and Primary 1 worked together to deliver our Harvest assembly this year and the Charities Thinking Team organised a collection of food for the local Foodbank. We are so grateful for the donations we received and we know that they will be used to provide families in our community.
Thank you to everyone who came along to our service and who made valuable donations.
Arran Residential Day 1
Primary 7 have been enjoying their first day on Arran today. The red and green group went exploring on the beaches to Kings Cross while the Blue Group walked up Ben Fionn. There’s sure to be some tired faces tonight (and that’s just the teachers!). Follow the rest of their adventures here, on the school website or on Facebook and Twitter.
Rights Respecting Schools Update
This week, all pupils in Mayfield Primary have been given their own reusable water bottle to reduce the amount of plastic waste we are producing. This is to help the UN Convention with their one of their Global Goals. We wanted to do our bit to help reduce plastic pollution in the world’s oceans and seas.
