On Thursday 16th February we visited Irvine Burns Club. The trip gave us an opportunity to learn more about Robert Burns and speak to people who are really passionate about him. We left feeling much more knowledgeable and having seen lots of interesting items related to Robert Burns. These included items such as original poetry manuscripts, the chair he sat on to read books in his local book shop and a timeline of his life in Irvine.
“It was a very interesting trip.” Morgan
“It was an educational trip and I learned things that I didn’t already know about Robert Burns.” Abbi
“I found the visit very informative.” Celine
“My favourite part was when we got to see the chair that Burns sat on in the book shop.” Sophie
“I most enjoyed listening to the power point to find out more about him.” Declan
This sounds like it was a very interesting visit. Great to hear that you learned new things about Robert Burns. Did you know that there are over 60 statues of Burns around the world? He is third in line after Christopher Columbus and Queen Victoria in the number of statues dedicated to a non-religious figure worldwide. Statues can be found as far away as Australia and New Zealand. He is one popular guy!
