We participated in ‘Hour of Code’ using the coding website code.org. This allowed us to see how some of our favourite games are developed and gave us an opportunity to try it ourselves. We enjoyed using code to create games such as Minecraft and Frozen! Some of us want to try coding at home too.
Taylor- ‘I really liked it because we created a game the way we wanted to’
Rosie- ‘The Hour of Code was really fun but it was hard to choose from all the different things you got to do’
Robbie- ‘It was challenging’
Caelin- ‘I thought it was fun because it had games we liked but we were still learning new things’
Mark Mac- ‘It was really fun and my favourite g’ame was Gumball
In Science, P4 have been learning about electricity. We have discussed circuits and can describe the features of one. Look at us working in teams to try and make a lightbulb glow!
For homework, Miss Watt asked us to choose an endangered animal to research and present our findings in the form of a poster or a PowerPoint. We then presented our projects to our class, focusing on speaking loudly and clearly, maintaining eye-contact with our audience and trying not to fidget. We took turns to peer assess each other and give feedback. All of the talks were fantastic and it was clear everyone had worked really hard!
Mark H- ‘At first I was worried as I didn’t think I would finish on time but I managed to’
Emma Mc- ‘I was nervous to speak in front of the class but I did well’
Dato- ‘I liked it because we got to learn about endangered animals and some of us didn’t know this information before the task’
Kerr- ‘It was very fun and very interesting’
Mark Mac- ‘Everybody enjoyed it. I enjoyed researching my animal’
This week we have been performing our school show ‘Cinderella & Rockerfella’ to a live audience. We were all very excited but nervous at the same time. We have worked very hard to learn speaking parts, acting parts and singing and dancing parts. The reaction from the audience was super!
Bryony- ‘It was exciting and fun because we learned songs and actions and some of us had a speaking part’
Ashley- ‘It was fun and exciting because we seen everyone dressed up in their roles’
Mark H- ‘It was exciting because you get to perform to your loved ones’
Kieran- ‘It was good because it was a funny story’
Alexander- ‘It was great because we got to perform in front of our friends and families’
We used a printing technique to recreate a sky of fireworks. The finished pictures are very effective. We all enjoyed Fireworks Night and shared our experiences. We understand the importance of keeping safe around fireworks.
Kaitlin- ‘It was fun and I was excited to see it when it was all finished’
Kerr- ‘It was really fun and very colourful’
Liam- ‘We were doing well with the printing as it was a bit tricky’
Alexander- ‘Always keep your distance from fireworks and don’t go near them when they are being set off’
Bryony- ‘Don’t stand next to fireworks as you could get burnt’
Taylor- ‘When a firework is finished don’t go near it as it may still explode’
Ashley- ‘You should always have an adult with you on Firework’s Night’
Caelin- ‘Fireworks have a warning sign to say how far you should keep back but it is safe to stay back even further’
We have been developing our multiplication and division skills through playing games. We think Splat, Bingo and board games are fun ways to help us learn our times tables and they also help us work well in groups.
Mark M- ‘The board game helps me develop my division skills’
Robbie- ‘We were learning our division through play’
Rosie- ‘It was fun but really made us think’
Kerr- ‘It was fun and we had to be quick to answer’
Iain- ‘It helps us when we come to divide as we will know it better’
Emma M- ‘It allows us to learn our times tables quickly’
