World Book Day – 2.3.17

Today is World Book Day! We all dressed up as a character from a book. We went to the gym hall to listen to Mrs Breen reading a story to us. Then we read a book with someone older than us.

Lily said, ‘I liked reading the story with the older children.’

Taylor said, ‘I liked dressing up as a character from a book.’

Niamh won best dressed.

 

Toys Topic

We have started our new topic this week. Our topic is, ‘Toys’. Mrs Murray has been reading us a big book looking at toys from many years ago. We learned the first teddy bear was made over a hundred years ago in America. We also looked at when people started playing board games like Monopoly and Draughts. Mrs Murray has been teaching us how to play draughts.

Ellie Atherton said, ‘I liked when I could jump the other teams counter.’

Abbie said, ‘I liked me and Lily won the game.’

Certificate Winners – 9.2.17

Well Joshua, Isla and Ellie!

Joshua achieved an active playground certificate for always being active at break times.

Isla achieved a healthy certificate for always trying to have vegetables with her  lunch.

Ellie achieved a confident individual certificate for being confident in sharing her ideas during circle time.

Internet Safety Day – 7.2.17

We learned how to stay safe online. We listened to the story, ‘Digiduck’s Big Decision’ by Lindsay Buck. The story showed us that we should not send pictures to people on the computer.

Niamh said, ‘You should not go on the internet without mummy or daddy knowing.’

Joshua said, ‘Don’t send pictures to people.’

Isla said, ‘If something pops up on our screen we take it straight to mummy or daddy.’

Next we watched a cartoon showing us that we don’t give our name and address to people we don’t know.

Library Visit – 6.2.17

We went on another visit to the library. We had to go on a bus to get there. When we arrived we had to warm up by doing heads, shoulders, knees and toes.

Next we listened to the story, ‘Gruffalo’ in Scots. Some of us played the different animals.

Next we went on a hunt to find ladybirds.

We came back to class and wrote thank you letters to the library. We hope they like them.

Certificates – 3.2.17

Well done Allie, Kayden and Eva!

Allie has achieved a nurtured certificate for always including friends at playtime.

Kayden has achieved an achieving certificate for learning all his keywords.

Eva has achieved a successful learner for being able to add coins together to 10p.

Scottish Afternoon

We loved reciting our poem, ‘Crocodile’ by J.K Annand and singing our song, ‘Ally Bally Bee’. We also told our parents the Scottish words we have been learning for the different animals.

‘A dug is a dog,’ said Kayla.

‘A coo is a cow,’ said Eva.

‘A puggie is a monkey,’ said Naomi.

‘A hoolet is an owl,’ said Ellie.

Baptism

We have been learning about baptism and what some people do to welcome a new baby into a family.

Allie and Shane pretended they were the mum and dad and Lily and Ryan were the godparents. We decided to name the baby Rosie.

Scottish Poem Competition – 24.1.17

This week we had a Scottish poem competition. We all learned the poem, ‘Crocodile’ by J.K Annand and Mrs Murray had to choose 3 children to go through to the final in front of the whole school. Mrs Murray found it very hard to choose because she thought everyone was wonderful.

Our finalists were Joshua, Niamh and Ellie.

Joshua said, ‘I made sure I said the poem in a clear voice.’

Niamh said, ‘I liked when we got a certificate.’

Ellie said, ‘I liked standing on the stage to say the poem.’
