Scottish Poem Competition – 24.1.17

This week we had a Scottish poem competition. We all learned the poem, ‘Crocodile’ by J.K Annand and Mrs Murray had to choose 3 children to go through to the final in front of the whole school. Mrs Murray found it very hard to choose because she thought everyone was wonderful.

Our finalists were Joshua, Niamh and Ellie.

Joshua said, ‘I made sure I said the poem in a clear voice.’

Niamh said, ‘I liked when we got a certificate.’

Ellie said, ‘I liked standing on the stage to say the poem.’

Creating our own Tartan!

This week we have been busy creating our very own Scottish tartan. We looked at lots of different tartans on the smartboard and talked about when people wear tartan. We then created our own tartan by drawing straight lines across the paper and down the paper. Next we decided on what colours we wanted to paint our tartan.

Laura said, ‘I had to try and keep the ruler straight when I was drawing my tartan.’

Abbie said, ‘I had to concentrate really hard when drawing the lines.’
