Curriculum for Excellence<\/b><\/p>\n
Curriculum for Excellence is the national curriculum for Scottish schools for learners from age 3 to 18. \u00a0It aims to raise standards, prepare our children for a future they do not yet know and equip them for the jobs of tomorrow in a fast-changing world.<\/p>\n
Curriculum for Excellence enables professionals to teach subjects creatively, to work together across the school and with other schools, to share best practice and explore learning together. Glow, Scotland\u2019s unique, world-leading, online network supports learners, teachers and families in this.<\/p>\n
Teachers and practitioners will share information to plan a child\u2019s \u201clearning journey\u201d from 3-18, ensuring children continue to work at their own pace whilst providing challenge upon which they can thrive.<\/p>\n
Curriculum for Excellence balances the importance of knowledge and skills. Every child is entitled to a broad and deep general education where every single teacher and practitioner will be responsible for literacy and numeracy \u2013 the language and number skills that unlock other subjects and are vital to everyday life. \u00a0There is emphasis too on health and wellbeing \u2013 to ensure that the school is a place where children feel safe and secure.<\/p>\n
Curriculum for Excellence develops skills for learning, life and work to help young people go on to further study, secure work and navigate life. \u00a0It brings real life into the classroom, making learning relevant and helps young people apply lessons to their life beyond the classroom.\u00a0 It links knowledge in one subject area to another helping children understand the world and make connections. \u00a0It develops skills so that children can think for themselves, make sound judgements, challenge, enquire and find solutions.<\/p>\n
Children\u2019s progress is assessed using a broad range of approaches to ensure children achieve their potential. Ultimately, Curriculum for Excellence aims to improve our children\u2019s life chances, to nurture successful<\/strong> learners, confident<\/strong> individuals, effective<\/strong> contributors, and responsible<\/strong> citizens, building on Scotland\u2019s reputation for great education.<\/p>\n Four Capacities<\/a><\/p>\n Curriculum for Excellence: The Capacities<\/b><\/p>\n Further Information about Curriculum for Excellence and the Experiences and Outcomes can be found on the Curriculum for Excellence website.<\/p>\n Education Scotland<\/a><\/p>\n The school offers many pupils the opportunity to participate in after school activities.\u00a0 Older children also have the chance to take part in coaching sessions and competitions at the Inverclyde Sports Centre.<\/p>\n All children participate in environmental based trips and other visits are frequently organised especially to view live theatre.
