Kilwinning Academy was built as a replacement building for Kilwinning’s original secondary school, Kilwinning high school, which burnt down in 1971 from a massive fire with an unknown cause.<\/p>\n
The current building opened to 1st year pupils in 1976, then to 1st, 2nd and a few 3rd year pupils in 1977 before finally opening to all other school years the following year.<\/p>\n
We are a six year secondary school with a capacity of 1,330 pupils at one time.<\/p>\n
Kilwinning Academy also has an Astroturf to allow the pupils to play football at break and lunch. This Astroturf was made in 2017 as it used to be a blaes pitch.
