The Area<\/p>\n
Kilmory Primary School is situated at the south end of the Island of Arran.\u00a0 The catchment area encompasses Corriecravie to Levencorrach.<\/p>\n
This is a rural area of the island with little public transport other than the service bus to and from the boat sailings in Brodick.\u00a0 However, there is a community bus which can be used by residents of the area and groups outwith.\u00a0 Facilities in the village include\u00a0a\u00a0hall with bunk house, social club and small community shop.\u00a0\u00a0 There are also local businesses Lagg Hotel, Velo Caf\u00e9, Lagg Distillery,\u00a0Jennifer Earle Kilt Maker, Runach Arrain Yurt Glamping,\u00a0Clachaig Farm\u00a0Home Grown Vegetables\u00a0and Kilmory workshop selling woodwork\/pottery.<\/p>\n
The School<\/p>\n
The school roll in 2024\/25 is 19 pupils plus 7 in the Early Years class.\u00a0 The school has a capacity for 33 pupils and 10 places for 3 to 4 year olds in the early years class.<\/p>\n
The present school was opened in 1974 and replaced a Victorian building.\u00a0 It was extended in 2008.\u00a0 It is a fully open plan building which is a very versatile design suited to a small school.\u00a0 There is a kitchen in the school and meals are cooked at a hub kitchen in Shiskine and brought to Kilmory.<\/p>\n
The school also benefits from having extensive school grounds, particularly for the size of the school. \u00a0The children have access to a tarred and small grass area with playground equipment to the front of the school as well as a school garden and playing field to the rear.\u00a0 There is also a children’s play park adjacent to the school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
