{"id":27,"date":"2019-01-22T13:39:37","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T13:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/kilmoryprimary\/?page_id=27"},"modified":"2019-07-24T09:19:21","modified_gmt":"2019-07-24T09:19:21","slug":"pupil-voice","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/kilmoryprimary\/pupil-voice\/","title":{"rendered":"Pupil Voice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>As part of our plans for improvement we aim to provide our pupils with many opportunities to lead their own learning.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils will feel valued and supported in developing a school that meets their needs.<\/p>\n<p>Through this process we also aim to give them real life meaningful experiences which involve them working collaboratively and think creatively to solve problems.<\/p>\n<p>Building the Curriculum 4; Supporting children to develop and apply skills as part of CfE.<\/p>\n<p>Development of skills is essential to learning and education and helping develop the 4 capacities.<\/p>\n<p>It is about creating lifelong learners who can reach their full capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Skills need to be developed across all contexts.<br \/>\nCfE is firmly focused on learner and providing a variety of opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>We must facilitate Pupil Voice and encourage our children to lead their own learning, take more responsibility and work more independently.<\/p>\n<p>To provide children with the opportunities to develop these skills we encourage:<\/p>\n<p>Routines that ensure pupils always know what they do next and what is expected of them<br \/>\neg.<br \/>\nComing into activities to ensure no dead time, clear daily programmes, extension tasks.<br \/>\nChildren leading assembly.<br \/>\nClasses sitting in Houses and House Captains managing behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>House points awarded for good behaviour.<br \/>\nChildren choosing songs, organising pupil news.<\/p>\n<p>SMT regularly meet Pupil Committees and House Captains to discuss issues.<\/p>\n<p>Lunchtime monitors.<\/p>\n<p>Independent and active learning areas.<\/p>\n<p>As a school we always try to think innovatively about our approach to change and an aspect we have developed is to have committees.<\/p>\n<p>Committees offer children the opportunity to make a positive and active difference to their school and covers a wide variety of aspects of school life.<\/p>\n<p>The children are also able to meet and get to know other children from different classes and work cooperatively with a variety of people.<\/p>\n<p>This will provide a whole overview as to the impact our pupils can make on school improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils will also be timetabled to share their committee plans at assemblies to ensure all pupils know what changes are developing and they will share ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Parents are also made aware of groups and can volunteer to help.
