Happy Monday Skye class!

Good morning everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

This week we will focus on SCIENCE and today we have a fun activity that you all loved in class! Today we are going to explore water and ice.

Do you have an ice pack at home in your freezer? You can touch it and can you feel how it is? Alternatively you can touch and feel an ice bag of frozen fruits or vegetables.

I have an activity for you to do if you want. You only need some things that you have at home and time to wait until the water is frozen.

Instructions:

  • put some of your favourite (small) toys in a food bag/ plastic bag/ tub
  • pour water
  • add soap if you want
  • put it in the freezer and let it freeze for some hours.

  • When it is frozen, you can take it out and use warm water to melt it.
  • Can you get your toys back?
  • You can use any tool you have to break the ice! (eg. cutlery, kitchen tools etc.)
  • Don’t forget to tidy up when you are finished!

I hope you have a good day! 🙂

Sensory Touch Activities – Skye Class

Good Morning!

Happy Friday everyone!  This week Miss Mitrou and Mrs Clarke have given you some lovely sensory activities to do.  Today its Mrs Inglis turn, and I have an activity for you to try, using your hands and fingers to touch and explore different textures.  This could be done in the house or outside.  It could be washing dishes using cloths and sponges, playing with toys or exploring in the garden….

I have made a video of our nice hand ‘warm up’ activities again, and shown you some things I found in my house which had different textures to touch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn7_2uwADPs&safe=active

I found some sticky things, some soft things, some bumpy things and some rough things.  Maybe you will find other things too – like fluffy toys!?  You could also explore ‘wet‘ and ‘dry‘, ‘hot‘ and ‘cold‘.  So many things to look for and explore with your hands (or feet!).  You could collect things on a tray and just explore all the different things you find.  Or separate them and sort them into different textures using these  visuals I made for you.  You might only want to choose two to look at, for example rough and smooth.

textures

If you go for a walk, why not try this texture scavenger hunt?  If you want you can print it out.  I went for a walk with my little girl and we found all sorts of nice things – moss, leaves, flowers, mud, sticks, grass, shells and stones!  We also saw a slimy snail trail! We took some things home, and got some lovely photos!

Have lots of fun!

Hi Skye Class

Good Morning Skye Class,

I hope you are all well and have been enjoying this lovely weather. This week we are learning about our senses and i thought we could be outdoors looking at nature. We see lots of lovely things around us everyday but sometimes we don’t stop to really take in the beauty. I have attached a nature hunt that you could take part in when out a walk or even in your back garden. Its all about looking so get outside and keep your eyes peeled for some of the items on the list.

Another short activity i have attached is using our senses to explore nature what do we see, smell, hear and feel. Write down or draw what you have experienced! I have also attached a short story about a wee caterpillar which is something you might find when looking at nature. Have fun everyone.          T-T-16338-Our-Summer-Nature-Walk-Writing-Frame

Good morning Skye class

Good morning Skye class!

I hope you all had a good weekend! It has been a lovely weather! 🙂

Today is Monday and this week I am thinking that we can experience and explore our senses. For today I choose one of our 5 senses and it is “to hear different sounds”.

right click and select copy

We are going to explore different sounds and what we can hear. Every day we hear different sounds in our wider environment: the birds singing, the dogs barging, people talking and laughing, a phone ringing, cars, buses and so many other familiar sounds to us.

One of our activities for today will be to hear different sounds and try to find what is is. There is a PowerPoint that you can follow if you want. I have added some familiar sounds to you and then you can take your favourite pen and make a mark into the correct box. You can even play this game on your laptop or tablet just by touching the correct picture.

Find the sound

You can also choose your favourite song and listen to your favourite music! Don’t forget to show how a great dancer you are as we do in class having fun! 🙂

Hope you have a lovely day! Don’t forget to enjoy the sun and have lots of fun playing outside!

I am here for anything you want 🙂

Sunshine activities!

Good Morning!

It is Friday, and the sun is shining again which is lovely!  I thought i would post a few lovely sunshine activities.

Here is a wee video from me!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwm4BvQLxKY&feature=youtu.be&safe=active

When we go out in the Sun we wear different clothes.  It feels warm.  We won’t need our warm jackets.  The Sun is very bright, so we might wear sunglasses. We might wear shorts and t-shirts.  We might wear a sun hat.  We might wear sunglasses.  We might need sun cream to look after our skin.  Maybe you could explore some of these items you have in your house….? We would love to see you all ready to experience the sunshine!

I have made a few visuals you can use which you can use to help you recognise, match and look for some of these Summer items. If you print them off, print two copies, cut one set up and you have a matching game.  Just click on the link here…

You can also mix them up and try to match the visual with the item.  You could use these learning intentions to help you pick the correct item.

If you would prefer, you could also just make a sunshine picture, using whatever you have in the house – paint, glitter, glue,  tissue paper or crayons…. Maybe do this outside?!

If you are out in the Sunshine, stay safe and enjoy!  I think I will try to get outside in my garden today too!

Here are some summer songs you might like to enjoy listening to.  They are some school favourites!!

Sunflower challenge

Hello everyone,

If you have checked our new school Twitter account, all of your sunflowers have grown and they are planted in the Love Hall Garden so everyone can enjoy them! Mrs. Rose has a challenge for all of you:

  • draw your own picture
  • write your name on it
  • take a photograph
  • send it to your teachers or post it on twitter page.

You can use any colour you want, any tools or materials. You only need your imagination and creativity and your picture will be the best! Don’t forget to add your name. Your sunflower will have their own picture, your own name and you can see how fast it grows. 🙂

Hello Skye Class – a message for you!

Good Morning Skye Class!

It is Wednesday already! Hope you are all well….

I have made you a little video to say hello, and set you a nice little task for today.  I hope it will make you feel happy!

I really like to look at pictures of all my friends and family.  I know that just now it is very hard because we cannot see all the people we love.  I am sure you will be missing them.  So why not look at some photographs at home with your family?  And maybe have a look on the blog and school  facebook page to see some familiar faces from school too!    I know that all the staff are missing each and every one of you, and I’m sure your friends miss you too.  And remember – things won’t be like this forever!

It’s quite lonely here at the end of a computer, so I would love to see some photgraphs of you too!

Have a lovely day – I hope the sun continues to shine for us all!

Mrs Inglis

Happy PJ Day Skye class

Good morning Skye class,

I hope you are well and I am sure you are all happy because… today is Friday 🙂

Mrs. Gribben has a challenge for all at Haysholm school, as you know. Today we should all wear pyjamas! So I am thinking that you can wear your lovely pyjamas, lie down and relax listening to music. Your brothers, sisters and anyone in your family can join in!

I have added some suggestions for you, but you may have another favourite song that you prefer. You may check blogs from other classes too and find an activity that you like. We all have some lovely ideas 🙂
