Donkey and Alfie came to visit Haysholm School this afternoon and all the pupils got the chance to come out and meet them. CK decided to take Alfie for a walk! The pupils all had lovely responses to the donkeys, who were very placid for our pupils.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved our 3rd Green Flag Award!! The assessment panel at Keep Scotland Beautiful praised the pupils and staff in the school highly –
‘It was evident from your submission that your young people are passionate and motivated in caring for their environment. We were especially impressed with the communication visual aids implemented to ensure that your young people fully comprehend their environmental actions. We would also like to praise you on how you encouraged your young people to lead in being responsible citizens, by giving them the responsibility of informing your community of the importance on how to recycle food waste.’
We look forward to receiving our new flag and to flying it with pride!!
A huge thankyou to everyone who supported our pupils on their virtual journey to Robin House in Balloch- we have donated £537 to CHAS which will go directly to help support the good works in Robin House. The children had a great week completing the 78 miles in school, walking, running, scooting and cycling their way around the track area.
Samantha Reilly from CHAS came in to school and joined us at our assembly for the presentation of our cheque.

Staff from Irvine Royal Academy provided a fun morning of sensory science experiences and experiments for pupils in our primary and secondary departments – everyone loved exploring the experiments, especially the giant bubble tube! Thanks to all the staff, students and volunteers who helped support this morning.
We all gathered in the sunshine to finish off our health week with a whole school picnic – the pupils all relaxed on picnic blankets and enjoyed listening to some music and having some healthy snacks and drinks.
The pupils and staff in Mull Class have been enjoying time outside during Health Week as well as some relaxation time in class.
In school as part of health week the pupils have been able to experience different methods of massage and relaxation techniques. Here are copies of the resources we have been using in school. Also included is some paperwork detailing the benefits of relaxation and massage for children as well as where it fits within Curriculum for Excellence.
All pupils responded really well to this. For massage we are using coconut oil, available from all supermarkets but a bargain from B & M at just £1.49 for a large tub! It is solid in the tub but very quickly melts with the heat from your hands – and it smells divine!
Mull Class are organising a sponsored walk for the whole school, covering the distance of 78 miles from Haysholm School to Robin House children’s hospice in Balloch – all within our school grounds!
Our Just Giving page is up and running – please encourage friends and family online to support our pupils in raising funds for this good cause!
