This week as part of our IDL topic we were discovering France through looking at different books.
We were also learning to smell, touch and taste french baguettes and croissants.
We were also singing and signing Frere Jacques.
Our mud kitchen is now up and running. We had great fun exploring and making mud tea and mud pies.

We finished our “Plant It, Grow It, Eat It project. We used our own home grown potatoes which we planted from seed. We learned how to cut the potatoes, cook them and then we learned how to mash them.
GF was a confident individual cycling around the cycle track excellently.

For IDL this week we were listening to French songs. We have chosen Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes to learn and sing in French.

We had a brilliant day on Wednesday. We had a visit from the Irvine Royal Academy department who introduced us to many different and interesting activities. We visited different stations which included making slime, discovering magnets, making lava lamps, static electricity, duck race, bubble pool and watching bath bombs disappear.

We also had a afternoon rotating round the classes to do different activities.

KA was a responsible citizen having fun and following instructions at Eglinton Park.

Preparations are well under way for the garden party next month. We
have lots of glueing, sticking, painting, baking and wrapping to do. But you’ll
have to come along to the party to see and buy what we’ve made.

Today we all worked together tending to our Jura class garden. We planted some lovely plants, which will hopefully bloom soon.
KA had a sensory home economics session making chocolate play doh and afterwards she enjoyed a heuristic water play session.

We joined together with Mull and Skye class for a science workshop. We took part in an interactive story called Ella’s Wobble. We made percussion instruments which sounded like a squirrel scurrying and a seagull squawking. It was great fun.

Our IDL topic this week included our own bike race. We cycled round the track matching flashcards to the various French landmarks.

J was a successful learner reading out loud the words on the board at group time independently.
This week we started a new IDL topic. It is called (France). We were looking at some of the amazing paintings by Claude Monet. We tried to create our own ‘Japanese Bridge’ paintings by using our fingertips. As you can see they look pretty good compared to the French originals.

We had a music therapy session this week with a lovely woman called Janette. She brought lots of interesting instruments for us to explore and play with.
