{"id":298,"date":"2020-12-14T23:32:10","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T23:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/greenwoodac\/?page_id=298"},"modified":"2025-09-14T15:52:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T15:52:25","slug":"structure","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/na\/greenwoodac\/enhancing-the-curriculum\/structure\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior Phase Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In S4<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> pupils opt for 7 subjects leading to a minimum of 7 SCQF qualifications.\u00a0 This includes SCQF Skills Academy, Princes Trust and College courses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition, pupils also study 1 period of Literacy and Numeracy where the pupils are supported to develop their\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">transferable\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">skills.\u00a0 This can lead to an additional SQA Literacy\/Numeracy Unit at a higher level than the child\u2019s English\/Maths qualification or an additional qualification i.e. Scottish Studies, Media<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and Personal<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Finance.\u00a0 It provides an opportunity for literacy\/numeracy skills to be developed to meet the needs of other curricular areas i.e\u00a0report writing, developing the use of key words<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, analysing data<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0etc.\u00a0 This period\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">allow<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0pupils to continue to fill any gaps in their knowledge as identified from the Broad General Education and throug<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">h assessment data such as SNSA.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1 period of Physical Education,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1 period of Enrichment (Health, Wellbeing and Skills).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0can<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0lead to an additional SCQF qualification &#8211; Mental Health, Wellbeing, Spo<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rt, Leadership (not exhaustive) and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1 period of Personal and Social Education.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pupils also have the opportunity to engage in course through the SWEIC and the Open University (Young Applicants in Schools Scheme &#8211;
